Performance standards (IEC 61000-4 series)

  • IEC 61000-4-2 (Electrostatic Discharge, ESD): TSS has an extremely fast response time, capable of starting in microseconds or even nanoseconds, effectively clamping voltage spikes caused by electrostatic discharge, thereby protecting sensitive circuits.

  • IEC 61000-4-4 (Electrical Fast Transient Pulse, EFT):EFT is a high-frequency, short-duration pulse train. The fast response characteristics of TSS enable it to effectively clamp these pulses and prevent them from interfering with the normal operation of the circuit.

  • IEC 61000-4-5 (Lightning Surge): This is TSS's primary and strongest testing capability. TSS has surge withstand capabilities of tens or even hundreds of amperes, and can quickly guide the powerful surge energy caused by lightning strikes or switching to ground, making it an ideal choice for dealing with such high-energy threats.

Environmental and Materials Regulations

RoHS:This is an EU directive that restricts the use of hazardous substances such as lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in electrical and electronic equipment. All TVS components sold in the EU market must comply with RoHS standards.

REACH :This is another EU chemical management regulation that ensures a high level of protection for chemical substances and requires companies to be responsible for the chemicals used in their products.

ITU-T K series

TSS (Through Surge Suppressor) itself does not directly pass the ITU-T K series tests because these standards are for protection requirements of the entire telecommunications equipment or system.
TSS is a key component that helps products comply with several ITU-T K series recommendations.

Application of TSS in ITU-T K Series
TSS is crucial in product designs that combine the advantages of rapid response and high energy absorption, and is essential for compliance with the following ITU standards:
ITU-T K.20 (Telecommunications Equipment Withstandability) This standard covers overvoltage and overcurrent testing for power and signal lines. TSS (Transient Voltage Suppressor) is ideal for meeting the K.20 standard because it can clamp voltage to a safe level instantly and absorb powerful surge energy.

ITU-T K.21 (User Equipment Endurance) This standard imposes stricter protection requirements on equipment installed in users' homes or offices (such as routers and modems). TSS's high reliability and precise clamping capabilities ensure that such equipment can still operate stably when faced with lightning strikes or other interference from external lines.

ITU-T K.44 (Lightning Surge Protection) K.44 is specifically designed to handle powerful surges caused by lightning strikes. TSS diodes can withstand surge currents of tens or even hundreds of amperes, far exceeding the performance of ordinary TVS diodes, making them an effective solution for helping products pass the stringent K.44 tests.
